Keeping Power Flowing: Emergency Tank Repair with Composite Epoxy at a Power Plant

View all projects

Project Challenge

At a critical power generation facility, a leaking condensate tank threatened operations.
Traditional solutions like welding or full tank replacement would have required months of downtime — an unacceptable risk for the plant’s role in supporting community infrastructure.
The customer urgently needed a fast, safe, and economical repair that would avoid an unscheduled shutdown.

Project Solution

RJ Forbes quickly developed and executed a two-stage repair plan:

  1. Emergency stabilization: Drained the tank below the leak line and installed a temporary patch to immediately halt leaking and maintain full plant operations.
  2. Permanent structural repair: After stabilization, we coordinated a full shutdown, drained the tank completely, and applied a long-term composite repair.
    • Used composite epoxy embedded with woven carbon fiber for extreme durability and leak prevention.
    • Partnered with Advanced FRP Systems to ensure a solution engineered for a 20+ year service life.

Thanks to strategic planning, quality materials, and expert craftsmanship, RJ Forbes delivered a permanent, cost-effective solution — with zero unscheduled plant downtime.
